Samples and Covers  

As no one could have missed Curtis Mayfield is one of the most sampled artists in todays R&B music. We will try to build a complete list of the Mayfield samples and this is just a start. I found most of this information on internet at  http://www.galactica.it/101/black/sample33.html. Any further information would be very welcome.

We will also try to make a list of all the cover versions of Curtis songs, both these he wrote for other artists in the first place as well as later covered stuff. In the early 60's Curtis wrote, played and recorded  lots of songs for Jerry Butler after his departure from The Impressions.

Okey Records: Curtis wrote songs and produced lots of artists for the company in the mid sixties, notably Major Lance, Billy Butler, Gene Chandler and Walter Jackson.
